Our story was incredibly improbable. Perhaps in the realm of romantic relationships, all of them are. The woman that Olena brought into my life so unexpectedly in November of 2024 is now my wife. We are from very different cultures, speak different languages, and were separated by seven time zones. How can this possibly work? I don’t really have an answer for that, but Olena clearly saw something, perhaps in both of us, and thought that it was worth introducing us. No one was more surprised than me when an introductory video chat led to meeting in person in Prague, then Switzerland, then other places. Along the way, it became clear that we had a special connection, despite, or perhaps in a twisted way, because of our differences. None of this would have been possible were it not for Olena’s caring and insights. I have been deeply impressed by her sincerity, kindness, and genuine care. It would be difficult to thank Olena too much for how she has lifted my life and my wife’s life. Like any woman, I wanted to be happy. But I didn’t want a prince on a white horse like most women! I desired to meet a reliable, faithful, caring man who simultaneously has a good job and income. Men in Ukraine seemed to be immature. Or married heh) So I turned my sight abroad – I registered at Happy Family. After the interview, I was handed a list of candidates who matched my interests.
I liked Ranjit and as it turned out, sympathy was mutual. On the first date, I felt awkward – I was focused on understanding every word. So Ranjit offered me to attend English classes! Excellent first (but not the last!) surprise! I never thought that I would have to study again – but I studied for a year and now I can speak English fluently. I was very lucky. I heard it’s gonna be a while after registration and before the first meeting. But just a few weeks later, in June 2016, I received an invitation to evening singles with foreigners. I was skeptical, but then I realized that the same lonely people made a lot of effort to come to Ukraine. I tried to be friendly to everyone and got a lot of pleasure from communicating with intelligent, sincere, and elegantly dressed men. At the end of the evening, Allen came up to me and offered a dinner, and I agreed. It was a decision I have taken lightly because I really liked him.
