At the time, I was a young medical student. Matchmaking was not part of my plan.

Medicine was.

Yet life had a different vision.

Today, as the Founder and CEO of International Love Match, I often get asked how this journey began.

How It All Started

At nineteen years old, I was focused on medicine.

I was studying at Kharkiv Medical University and imagined my future in healthcare. I thought I would continue helping people as a doctor. Matchmaking was not part of the plan.

Then one unexpected visit changed everything.

A friend invited me to a small marriage agency in Kharkiv. At that time, there were no dating apps, no algorithms, no instant messages, and no social media profiles.

There were printed catalogs.

Handwritten letters.

Photographs.

Patience.

And, surprisingly, a level of sincerity that is difficult to find in many modern dating environments today.

Women waited weeks for responses. Men took the time to write carefully. Every word mattered because there was no easy replacement waiting one swipe away.

What caught my attention was not the business model.
